The WBXC High School Boys and Girls battled the most crowded field they have seen this season during the mentally taxing, looping 5K (3.1-mile) course at the Spartan Invitational last Saturday! Even by late morning the heat was setting in, creating another challenge for the runners.
For the boys,Â
finishing in the top 22% of 339 boys was freshman Logan Williams--75th place (18:53)!
Finishing in the top 26% of 339 boys was junior TJ Greenfield--89th place (19:11)!
Sophomore Jake Blinn (20:57) set a lifetime PR (personal record)!Â
For the girls,Â
Finishing in the top 30% of 226 runners was freshman Rachel Teague--69th place (23:30)!
Although the only HS runner to set a lifetime PR at Spartan was Jake Blinn, every single WB runner who competed in the 5K race last year improved his/her time at the course on average by 2:16!!Â
Congratulations, all HS boys and girls!
The WBXC HS teams will travel to Malone University on Saturday, 9/20 for the Malone Invitational, which is a night meet this year! The HS teams will then head to the Mahoning County meet at Austintown Township Park on Wednesday, 9/24.
