The 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams were both in action Thursday night, looking for wins as they hosted Marlington.
The 8th grade team suffered a 41-30 loss to the Dukes. Logan Hawk led West Branch with a strong performance, scoring 15 points. Michael McCartney contributed 9 points, including 7 from the free-throw line. With the defeat, the 8th grade team falls to 4-4 on the season.
Meanwhile, the 7th grade team bounced back with a 41-32 victory, improving to 5-3 overall and 5-1 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference. The win allowed them to avenge an early-season loss to Marlington. Drake Peterson had a standout first quarter, finishing with 9 points, while Austin Olinger and Carlin Jones each added 7 points.
Both teams will host Western, a Canton Central Catholic feeder school, on Saturday.
