Beloit, OH -- West Branch softball picked up a 7-3 win over Alliance on Thursday night, with the game also serving as Honored Educator Night. Players recognized a teacher or staff member who's made an impact on them, bringing them out for a pregame introduction.
Alliance struck first in the top of the opening inning, taking advantage of a single, a groundout, and a wild pitch to grab a 3-0 lead early. The Warriors answered right away in the bottom of the second and took control for good. Zoey Carreon got things going with an RBI single, Sara Schmidt followed with a two-run single, and the Warriors capitalized on an error to keep the inning rolling and jump in front 6-3.
From there, Ellie Tucker settled in and handled the rest in the circle. The right-hander went the distance, allowing four hits and three runs (just one earned) while striking out eight and walking two.
Schmidt led the way offensively with three RBIs, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate. She and Tucker each had two hits to pace the Warriors. West Branch did most of its damage early and rode a strong pitching performance the rest of the way to secure the win.
What's Next: West Branch will look to carry that momentum into tomorrow, hosting United at 5 p.m.
