Canal Fulton, OH -- The West Branch softball season came to a close Thursday as the Warriors fell 7-0 to Northwest in the OHSAA Sectional Final, held in check all afternoon by Indians pitcher Courtney Boggs, who spun a complete-game one-hitter with eight strikeouts.
Ellie Tucker battled on the mound, striking out eight over six innings in a gutsy postseason effort. Five of Northwest's seven runs came across as unearned, a credit to Tucker's ability to keep the Warriors in it despite a tough afternoon. A five-run fifth inning ultimately proved to be the difference.
Sara Schmidt had the Warriors' only hit of the day against a pitcher who was nearly untouchable from start to finish.
What's Next: That concludes the 2026 West Branch softball season with a final record of 9-13. A huge thank you to this year's seniors for everything they gave to the program and best of luck in all your future endeavors.
