Canton, OH -- The
West Branch varsity softball team closed out the regular season Tuesday at GlenOak, falling 9-3 ahead of Thursday's tournament opener at Northwest. The loss served as a solid tune-up game with postseason play right around the corner.
GlenOak struck first in the bottom of the first inning and added two more runs in the second, building a lead West Branch never recovered from.
Zoey Carreon provided the offensive highlight for the Warriors, launching a solo home run to center field in the fifth inning. She finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead West Branch at the plate. Sara Schmidt was also solid in the box, going 3-for-4 on the afternoon.
Ellie Tucker took the loss in the circle, pitching five innings and allowing eight runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
What's Next: The Warriors head to Northwest on Thursday to open tournament play. FIrst pitch is set for 5 p.m.
