Beloit, OH -- The Champion Golden Flashes softball program has been one of the best in the state of Ohio for years, and on Thursday, West Branch welcomed them to Beloit to play on the turf. However, a slow start plauged the warriors in a 14-4 loss.
Champion got on the board early, scoring three runs in the first inning, then added one in the second and three more in the third to take control of the game. Despite the final score, the Warriors showed fight at the plate. Carly Loper and Sara Schmidt led the way with two hits each, hitting back-to-back in the lineup. Schmidt finished 2-for-4 and drove in a team-high two runs
Maylin Hartzell went the distance in the circle for West Branch, working all seven innings while striking out three.
What's Next: West Branch returns to action on Saturday as they host Poland Seminary at noon.
