Beloit, OH -- Earlier today, the
West Branch softball team ran into a tough St. Vincent-St. Mary squad on Saturday, falling 10-1 at home. The Fighting Irish got rolling early with a first-inning push and added to their lead in the third, highlighted by a home run that helped stretch the advantage and set the tone for the game.
West Branch rotated arms in the circle, with Maylin Hartzell getting the start and Tatum Householder coming on in relief and giving the team four solid innings to try to slow things down. St. Vincent-St. Mary's Cameron Eckroad was in control throughout, keeping the offense limited over a complete-game effort.
Offensively, Ellie Tucker was the standout, finishing 3-for-3 at the plate and adding two stolen bases to spark the lineup. Sara Schmidt drove in the lone run for West Branch.
