Canfield, OH-- Opening day at the ballpark set the tone Tuesday, as the West Branch Varsity Warriors opened their season at McCune Park in Canfield, falling 5–1 to the Canfield Cardinals despite outhitting them 11–5.

West Branch showed production throughout the lineup, with Carly Loper, Elly Biskup, Ellie Tucker, and Layla Carreon each collecting two hits. Loper drove in the Warriors' lone run, finishing 2-for-3 in the season opener.

In the circle, Tucker turned in a complete-game effort, allowing five runs (three earned) while striking out four.

Canfield used a pair of early innings to build its advantage, but West Branch continued to apply pressure and create opportunities throughout the game.

What's Next: The Warriors will look to bounce back Thursday in their home opener against Boardman.
