Salem, OH -- The West Branch Lady Warrior softball team improved to 10-3 on the season with a big 9-4 win over rival Salem on Tuesday night.
Salem jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Carule singled in a run, but the Lady Warriors wasted no time responding. In the top of the second, Carly Loper drew a bases-loaded walk to tie it up, followed by a two-run single from Libbie Davis that gave West Branch the lead. A steal of home added one more, putting the Warriors ahead 4-1.
The momentum carried into the third as Klary McKay crushed a home run to left field. Later, Zoe Metzger reached on a walk and came around to score, stretching the lead to 6-1.
Ellie Tucker earned the win with five strong innings in the circle, allowing seven hits and four runs, all unearned, while striking out eight without issuing a walk. McKay came in to close it out and secured the save, while Salem's Lewis took the loss after giving up six runs on four hits through three innings.
Libbie Davis had a big night from the nine spot, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Davis and Tucker each finished with a pair of hits. The Lady Warriors showed great patience at the plate, drawing six walks, with Metzger and Loper working two each. On the base paths, Davis and Addi Craven each stole multiple bases as West Branch racked up six steals as a team.
Salem's Toy went 4-for-4 to lead all hitters, Carule added two hits, and Blaine along with A. Jones each drove in a run for the Quakers.
What's Next: The Lady Warriors are back home Thursday at home vs Minerva at 5 PM. They will look continue their peffect play in the EBC!
