Beloit, OH --
The West Branch Lady Warrior softball team has been on a roll, and they continued their dominance in the EBC with an 8-2 win over Carrollton on Thursday at home.
The bottom of the lineup played a huge role in the victory, as Zoe Metzger, Libbie Davis, and Carly Loper combined for four of the team's eight hits. They also crossed the plate three times and each added an RBI, proving once again that this lineup has no weak spots.
Ellie Tucker was locked in on the mound, striking out 10 while allowing just three hits and two runs over seven innings. She walked only one and controlled the game from start to finish.
West Branch got things started early in the first inning when Mati Hawk ripped a double down the right field line. A Carrollton error followed, bringing in two runs to give the Lady Warriors an early lead. Tucker helped herself in the second, driving in another run with a double to right.
Carrollton's Reagan Schneiders went six innings, giving up eight runs—only two of them earned—on eight hits, with three strikeouts and no walks.
Libbie Davis, hitting from the nine spot, showed just how deep this West Branch team is by going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. Tucker and Klary McKay each chipped in with two RBIs, and the defense stayed sharp, turning a double play to back up their pitcher.
Carrollton was led by Paityn Crank, who went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jordan Pittman and Juliaunna Miller each added a hit, and the Warriors turned a double play of their own.
What's next: West Branch, now 9-2, heads to Poland on Friday to take on the Poland Seminary Bulldogs. First pitch is set for 4 PM. The JV team will also be in action tomorrow at home vs Rootstown at 12 PM.
