BELOIT, OH – The West Branch Lady Warriors delivered a strong all-around performance Wednesday, earning a 5-0 victory over the Marlington Varsity Dukes at home.
They jumped on the scoreboard early, plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Sara Schmidt sparked the offense with a triple to center field. Josie Milliken followed with a single down the right-field line, and Zoe Metzger drew a walk, each contributing an RBI during the rally.
Another run came across in the third after Metzger roped a double, extending the lead to 4-0. The Warriors added one more run later in the game, rounding out their five-run total.
Klary McKay dominated in the circle, throwing a complete-game shutout. She allowed just four hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking one. The defense behind her was flawless, playing error-free softball, while Schmidt led the effort with seven fielding chances.
Milliken paced the offense with a 3-for-4 day at the plate. Metzger added two RBIs and reached base in each of her plate appearances. Schmidt and McKay also recorded multiple hits as the Warriors racked up 10 total.
Marlington's offense managed four hits, with Cecilia Braden and Chelsea Miller each collecting two.
What's Next: West Branch improves to 8-2 on the season and will look to keep the momentum rolling when they host Carrollton on Thursday at 5 PM
