This Friday night, Clinton Heacock Stadium will host a battle of unbeaten teams as West Branch (3-0) welcomes undefeated Howland (3-0) to Beloit.

The Tigers have posted just a 7-43 record since 2021 and have not had a winning season since 2017. This year, however, fourth year head coach Brian Jones has his team off to its best start since 2014.

West Branch overcame three first half fumbles last week to win its home opener 34-8 over Struthers. Howland enters on the strength of a 37-12 home win over East Cleveland Shaw.
 

Last Season's Meeting

• West Branch won 48-7

Through three weeks, West Branch has outscored its opponents by more than 80 points... the Warriors have 691 rushing yards on the season, and most of that damage belongs to Grady Hirst, who has 603 yards and five touchdowns through the air on top of 393 and seven scores with his legs... Gavin Marshall is the top target with 202 yards and three touchdowns, and he has punched one in on the ground for good measure... Drake Stryffeler is over the century mark too at 135 yards and a score... senior Damon Edwards has 133 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns... if there is one thing to fix, it is the four fumbles West Branch has lost already.

Last Friday the passing game finally broke loose... on the very first snap Hirst went deep to Marshall for 52 yards and a touchdown, and that set the tone for the night... Hirst hit on scores of 52, 46 and 72 yards and finished with 312 yards and four touchdowns, spreading it around to seven different receivers... the Warriors picked their spots on the ground, and Hirst made one of them count, going 98 yards to the house as part of a 158 yard night.

The other side of the ball has been just as good, with all three opponents held to single digits... Owen Bloss leads the team with 24 total hits and has added two tackles for loss and a sack... Drake Stryffeler has been just as productive on defense, with a team high 15 solo stops and an interception... Landon Coffee has been the one causing problems up front, with 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, five pressures and a fumble recovery... JJ Marra is right there with 17 total hits... and Marshall, Jeremy Ramsey and Hirst have each come down with an interception... Seniors Tyler Sprowl, Jackson Shinn, and Colton Stillion have also made impacts defensively.
