Tomorrow night unbeaten West Branch (4-0, 1-0 EBC) makes the short trip to Duke Stadium for its second Eastern Buckeye Conference test, this one against Marlington.
The Dukes are 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the league, but the long view has not been kind. Marlington has gone 15-35 since 2021, has not reached the playoffs since 2018, and has not beaten West Branch since 2019, a 31-24 decision.
Since 2021 the Warriors have outscored the Dukes 286-48 across five meetings, and West Branch will look to keep it that way.

Four weeks in and nobody has gotten into the end zone on the ground against the vaunted West Branch defense... opponents have run it 89 times for 218 yards and nothing has reached the end zone... the Warriors have given up 21 points total, or 5.3 a night, and have not allowed more than a single score in any game... Landon Coffee has been the reason a lot of those runs die early, with 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and a team high eight pressures... Owen Bloss is up to 30 total hits and Drake Stryffeler has 24 with a pick of his own... Jeremy Ramsey has two interceptions and five other Warriors have one, giving West Branch seven takeaways through the air against just two thrown the other way.
Grady Hirst has accounted for 15 of the 20 West Branch touchdowns, nine with his legs and six with his arm... he is at 482 rushing yards on 56 carries and 774 through the air on 56 of 77 passing... at 8.6 yards a carry he is not asking for many tries to make something happen.
Spread it around and somebody is going to get loose... ten Warriors have a catch, seven have a carry... Gavin Marshall 219 and three scores, Stryffeler 16 grabs for 185 and two scores, Coffee 12 for 145... Damon Edwards has run for 186 and four touchdowns, JJ Marra for 163.
The hidden numbers are just as lopsided... West Branch has punted twice all season while forcing 15 punts... 84 first downs to 36... 431 yards a game to 172... the four lost fumbles all came in the first three weeks, with a clean sheet last Friday.
