Varsity baseball fell to Minerva on Thursday afternoon 4-2 in EBC play. The Warriors are now 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the EBC.
Minerva got on the board first with a run in the third, but West Branch quickly responded. However, Minerva tacked on a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to build a 4-1 lead. The Warriors scored a run in the top of the sixth to inch closer but didn't have enough falling by the two run margin.
Drake Stryffler finished the day 2-2 and was on base three times. Stryffler had a triple, RBI, and scored a run.
Nick Scofinsky had an RBI single in the sixth while
Carson Wike added a single in the seventh.
Even Springer (1-1) took the loss allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out five and walking three. Wike pitched two innings allowing two runs (0 earned).
Next up: West Branch returns home to take on Howland on Saturday at 2 PM.
