The Warrior baseball season came to an end on Tuesday as the Warriors fell to Norton 6-2 in an OHSAA District Semifinal contest at Norton. The Warriors finish the season 12-14.
West Branch got on the board in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead over the Panthers.Â
Gavyn Webb,
Drake Stryffeler, and
Grayden Grimm each singled to load the bases.Â
Grady Close hit a sacrifice fly to left putting the Warriors on top.
The Panthers, however, answered with three runs in the bottom frame and three in the second inning to take a 6-1 lead. The Warrior hitters were held at bay through the middle innings before West Branch was able to plate a run on a wild pitch scored by Webb who had reach on an error earlier in the inning. In the seventh, West Branch was able to put two runners on base thanks to hits by
Carson Wike and
Evan Springer but their rally came up short giving the Panthers the victory.
Jeremiah Thomas took the loss on the mound pitching .2 innings allowing three runs (0 earned) on one hit with four walks and a strikeout.Â
Evan Springer finished the final 5.1 innings allowing three runs on six hits while walking three and striking out three.
A big thank you to the six seniors who finished their careers tonight.Â
Jeremiah Thomas,
Nick Scofinsky,
Grady Close,
Carson Wike,
Chase Gee, and
Grayden Grimm have given everything they have to the West Branch community over the last four years and a big debt of gratitude is owed to them. Go Warriors!!
