The Warriors used seven extra base hits to power past Streetsboro 12-2 on Friday afternoon at West Branch High School. With the win the Warriors improve to 2-1 on the young season.
West Branch took the lead early and never looked back.
Drake Stryffeler once again got the Warriors on the board in the first inning with a one out triple that scored
Grady Close and
Gavyn Webb. The Warriors would eventually plate four in the first. In the second inning, West Branch added two more.
Jeremiah Thomas doubled and scored on a Webb double. Webb eventually scored after an error by the Rockets giving West Branch a 6-0 lead.
Streetsboro managed two runs in the third but West Branch answered with a run of its own in the bottom half for a 7-2 lead. Neither team scored in the fourth inning, but West Branch exploded for five runs in the fifth without and out for the victory.
Thomas, Webb, Stryffeler, and
Chase Gee each had two hits for the winners.
Nick Scofinsky added a single and
Grayden Grimm closed out the game with a double in the fifth.
Carson Wike also doubled for West Branch.
Evan Springer (1-0) picked up the win on the mound. Springer pitched all five innings allowing two runs on seven hits. He struck out two and walked three.
Next up: The Warriors will open EBC play on Tuesday at Minerva with a 5 PM first pitch.
