The Warriors 7th inning rally came up just short as the Warriors fell short falling to Struthers 8-7 on Friday afternoon. The Warriors are 5-8 on the season.
West Branch got off to a fast start scoring three runs in the first inning. Struthers responded with four in the second. The score remained 4-3 until West Branch scored three in the bottom of the fifth to take a 6-4 lead. Struthers once again answered with three of their own in the top of the sixth to take a 7-6 lead. The Wildcats added one more in the seventh to take a two run lead into the bottom of the inning. West Branch scored one run and loaded the bases with two outs, but a sinking liner to right was caught on a great lunging catch by the right fielder to end the game.
West Branch collected 11 hits on the day.
Grayden Grimm had three hits, two RBI and a double.
Carson Wike added two hits along with
Bryce Parker.
Drake Stryffeler,
Nick Scofinsky,
Evan Springer, and
Justin Dickey also singled.
Chase Gee took the loss on the mound. Gee allowed seven runs (4 earned) on eight hits. Gee walked three and struck out four. Grimm pitched the final 1.2 inings allowing one run (0 earned) on two hits with a strikeout.
