The Warrior baseball team fell to Austintown Fitch 12-2 on Thursday afternoon. The Warriors are now 1-1 on the season while the Falcons are 2-0.
West Branch took an early 2-0 lead after a
Drake Stryffeler triple brought home
Grady Close and
Gavyn Webb in the top of the first. The Warriors threatened throughout the early innings but the big hit didn't come and the score stayed 2-0 in the bottom of the 3rd. Fitch was able to put 4 runs on the board each of the next three innings for the win.
Evan Springer also singled for the Warriors and Webb reached base all three plate appearances with a hit by pitch and two walks.
Carter Thrasher took the loss on the mound giving up 4 runs (0 earned) on two hits in 2.2 innings of work. Thrasher walked four and struck out four on the night.
Next up: The Warriors will return home for a 1 PM contest with Streetsboro on Friday.
