Kenston, OH -- Over the weekend, nine West Branch boys wrestlers made the trip to Kenston for the OHSAA District Tournament with hopes of earning a spot at the state meet.
After a tough first day of the tournament, the Warriors advanced six wrestlers to day two. Beau Nezbeth and Gavin Hang both advanced to the semifinals, while Jackson McDonald, Carter Day, Case Sanor and Justin Marra continued wrestling in the consolation bracket.
Day two featured six Warrior wrestlers, but after day two only two remained in Nezbeth and Hang. Unfortunately, Gavin Hang lost two close matches and finished in fifth place, making him the state alternate.
Beau Nezbeth was able to win his match and secure a third-place finish, earning a trip to Columbus for the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament.
