The West Branch freshman basketball team defeated Salem 34-30 in the first round of the EBC Tournament on Wednesday at Carrollton High School. The Quakers gave the Warriors everything they could handle proving the old adage right that it is hard to defeat a team three times in a season. The Warriors, however, overcame a second half deficit to take a ten point lead in the fourth quarter and holding on to the victory. With the win the Warriors improve to 7-10 on the season.
Leading West Branch was
Dane Martucci with nine points.
Logan Hawk added seven points while
Kolin Kaley had five, Michael McCartney four,
Judah Kutz and
Everett Zippay three, and
Chris Thomas two.
Next up: The Warriors will take on Minerva on Thursday at 6:30 PM in the EBC Semifinals at Carrollton High School. The winner will advance to the championship game held at West Branch High School on Saturday at 2 PM.
