Warren, OH -- The West Branch boys soccer team has opened the season in dominant fashion, and they kept it rolling Tuesday night at Warren Harding. Coming into the match, the Warriors had outscored opponents 11-1. They pushed that margin to 18-1 after cruising to a 7-0 shutout over the Raiders.
The scoring was balanced, but one Warrior stood out as senior Gavin Clemens powered his way to a hat trick and added an assist. Reed Martucci stayed red hot with two goals and an assist, while junior Mason Thomas found the net for the first time this season. Dane Martucci chipped in with a goal, and Kasen Weaver and Leonel Gonzales each added assists.
In goal, Lance Myers had a quiet night, needing just one save thanks to the strong play of the West Branch back line.
What's Next: With the win, West Branch improves to 4-0 on the season and will host Boardman on Thursday in a marquee home matchup set for 7 PM. The game has also been tabbed as the Steel Valley Soccer Game of the Week.
