The Warriors picked up its third straight victory and a season sweep of rival Salem with a 6-2 victory over the Quakers in Salem on Wednesday afternoon. West Branch improves to 8-10 on the season and 4-5 in the EBC.
After following behind 1-0, the Warriors scored a run in the 2nd inning and broke a 1-1 tie with four more in the fourth inning. The big play was a suicide squeeze by
Grady Close that plated both
Maddox Coleman and Drake Stryffler after a throwing error by the Quakers.
Carson Wike picked up the victory on the mound pitching five strong innings allowing two runs (one earned) on just one hit. Wike walked four and struck out one.
Dominic Fotheringham pitched the final two innings allowing two hits and giving up zero runs.
At the plate West Branch collected eight hits including two by
Anthony Perry.
Boston Mulinix,
Evan Springer, Coleman, Stryffeler, Close, and Wike each singled.
The Warriors will head to Carrollton on Thursday night to close out their EBC schedule. First pitch is at 5 PM.
