The Warriors collected 16 hits Friday night on its way to a 15-3 victory over the Struthers Wildcats. The Warriors improve to 9-16 on the year.
After falling behind 1-0 early, the Warriors scored four runs in the third inning to take a 4-1 advantage. Struthers closed the gap with two runs of their own in the third, but West Branch exploded for eight runs in the fourth inning to take a commanding lead. The Warriors would add three more in the fifth to secure the five inning victory.
Carter Thrasher picked up his first varsity win on the mound. Thrasher pitched four innings allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits with seven strikeouts.
Dominic Fotheringham pitched a perfect fifth inning with two strikeouts.
Grady Close led the offense with three hits including a double.
Drake Stryffeler,
Anthony Perry, and
Evan Springer each had two hits. Stryffeler knocked in four runs while Springer collected three RBI and Perry two RBI.
Boston Mulinix and
Charlie Biskup each tripled. Biskup reached base safely four times going 1-1 with a walk and two hit by pitches.
Walker Poorbaugh finished the night 1-1 with an RBI and a run scored and
Zack Pinkerton had a hit and an RBI.
Carson Wike singled and
Collin Starcher scored a run for the Warriors.
West Branch will head to Boardman on Monday for a 5 PM start with the Spartans.
