The Warrior baseball team used a three run first to take a commanding lead and never looked back on its way to a 6-3 victory over Northwest in Beloit on Thursday. The Warriors improve to 4-5 on the season while Northwest drops to 3-4.
West Branch used aggressive baserunning to take the lead, scoring three runs with two outs in the first inning. The Warriors tacked on two more in the fourth and another in the sixth.
Offensively, the Warriors finished with nine hits including three by
Grady Close.
Anthony Perry and
Maddox Coleman each had two hits while
Charlie Biskup and
Walker Poorbaugh also singled.
Drake Stryffeler reached base three times as he drew three walks.
On the mound
Carson Wike picked up the win as he pitched 3.2 innings of relief allowing just two runs (one earned) on one hit with one strikeout.
Drake Stryffeler would close out the final 2.2 innings of the game allowing one run on one hit with two strikeouts.
