The boys soccer team entered its Saturday afternoon contest with Newton Falls with something to prove to themselves. After feeling that they controlled the majority of the game at Poland on Thursday, but coming away with a tie, the team wanted to put the ball in the back of the net early and leave not doubts who the better team was. The team accomplished its goal scoring four first half goals and eventually putting seven balls past the goalie for a decisive 7-3 win over the Tigers.
The team took a 4-0 lead into the break and came out firing on all cylinders in the second half continuously peppering the Tiger goalie with shots. The lead would reach 7-1 before Newton Falls would add two late goals bribing the final margin to four.
Leading the way today was
Gavin Clemens who finished with a hat trick scoring three goals. Also, adding goals for the Warriors were
Reed Martucci,
David Smith,
Mason Thomas, and
Austin Pierce. In goal
Devon West made three saves and exited the game with the 7-1 margin.
Up next for West Branch will be its EBC opener as the Warriors will welcome Minerva to town on Tuesday for a 6 PM kickoff.
