The West Branch 7th grade football team won the outright EBC championship this evening with a 40-0 victory over rival Salem. With the win the Warriors finished the season at 6-2 overall and 5-0 in the EBC.
Starting the game off with a strong defensive play, the Warrior's
Devin Francis blocked Salem's punt and scooped it up and ran into the endzone for the first touchdown of the evening. The Warriors defense would continue to stifle Salem the rest of the game holding them to just three first downs. Leading the defense was Francis, Lindin Fannin, and
Grant Santee all with tackles for losses. Also making it tough on Salem to get anything going were Josh French and Matt Edwards at linebacker and
Carlin Jones at safety with a huge hit on a Salem receiver to break up a pass.
When the offense took the field the offensive line opened huge holes for
Matthew Dorris to run through. Scoring for the Warriors was
Drake Peterson,
John Bates, and finding pay dirt on two receptions, one form Josh French and one from Peterson was
Garrett Turman.
