While the WBXC HS teams were battling tough competition at the District Meet, four of the WBXC Middle School Boys made the trip to Columbus to compete against some fine competition of their own at the Middle School State Meet at Dublin Jerome High School.
Leading the way for the WBXC MS Boys and finishing in the top 19% of a field of 202 boys was
7th grader
Sawyer Vavrock--38th place (12:05), who had an amazing finish, beating 5 other runners at the line by less than 1 second!
8th grader
Liam Wilson (12:34) had a terrific race, nearly setting a lifetime PR and chopping a massive 2:02 off of his time from MS State last year!
7th grader
Kason Coffee (14:02) and 8th grader
Case Black (14:04) provided some excitement as they battled back and forth in the last 300 meters. The intrasquad competition pushed the boys to run their best-ever times, as
Coffee shaved 13 seconds from his previous lifetime PR, while
Black cut 16 seconds from his!
Sadly, conflicts with soccer tournament games and a date change in the meet prevented several other MS runners (both boys and girls) from competing at MS State.
A special shout-out goes to Mrs. Coffee for guiding the boys before the race and giving them their times during the race, as the WBXC coaching staff was with the HS teams at Districts!
Congratulations, all WBXC MS runners for an EXCELLENT season!
