Canton, OH -- The WBXC High School Top-7 Boys and Girls competed at the Division III District Meet at GlenOak High School last Saturday. The course itself--full of rolling hills--was a challenging one, along with the competition. HOWEVER, the Warriors were up to the task!
Leading the way for the WBXC HS Boys and finishing in the top 29% or higher of a field of 119 boys were
senior
Kyle Ormiston--3RD PLACE!! (17:01)
sophomore
Logan Williams--18th place (17:58)
senior
Colton Cantwell--20th place (18:03)
junior
Jake Blinn--31st place (18:25)
senior
TJ Greenfield--34th place (18:28)
junior
Sevin Woods--35th place (18:29)
While none of the boys set a lifetime PR on the challenging terrain, ALL of them set course PR's, improving markedly from their times at Districts in 2025, when the team finished 5th.
On Saturday, the
WBXC HS Boys finished an impressive 3rd of 16 teams (only 18 points behind Marlington)
and therefore qualified for Regionals, as the top 9 teams advance! ***
The ONLY other time a WBXC HS Boys' team has finished as high as 3rd place at Districts was back in 2002!***
Leading the way for the WBXC HS Girls and finishing in the top 26% or higher of a field of 117 girls were
freshman Tenley Stitle--13th place (20:54)
freshman Ellie Bickle--30th place (21:57)
Like the boys, the WBXC HS Girls did not set any lifetime PR's, but nearly all the runners who ran in 2025 posted significant course PR's! Again, this is a testament to the girls' improvement from last year to this year.
On that note, last year, while the WBXC HS Girls did send 5 individuals to Regionals, they did not finish high enough collectively to qualify as a team. This year, however, the Lady Warriors finished a strong 6th of 15 teams and qualified for Regionals as a team, since the top 10 teams advance!
*For anyone keeping historical notes at home, the last time BOTH WBXC HS Boys AND Girls made it out of Districts AS TEAMS was in 2021, when the boys finished 5th (6 teams advanced) and the girls finished 6th (7 teams advanced). Prior to that, the last time BOTH teams qualified for Regionals was in the early 2000's!
Congratulations, all WBXC HS runners!
