Alliance, OH -- The West Branch Lady Warrior tennis team bounced back from an early deficit to take down Alliance 4-1 at Mount Union College on Wednesday, improving to 3-2 overall and staying unbeaten in EBC play at 1-0.
West Branch faced an early challenge when Cailyn Brink had a tough day at first singles, falling in three sets (2-6, 6-1, 1-6). Down 0-1, the Warriors needed someone to step up and turn things around.
Singles Audrey Miner answered the call at second singles, battling through a difficult first set before finding her rhythm to win in three (2-6, 6-4, 6-2). That determined comeback completely shifted the momentum. Abigail Carver stayed hot at third singles, playing solid tennis in straight sets (6-4, 6-2) to extend her winning streak to three matches.
Doubles The doubles teams came through big. Leah Irey and Ava Cope had drama at first doubles, dropping a close first set before bouncing back strong (6-7, 6-4, 6-4). Addison Bloor and Landry Simon stayed steady at second doubles, cruising to a nice straight-set victory (6-4, 6-2).
Miner's comeback at second singles was the key moment for West Branch. After struggling in that opening set, she found her game and delivered when her team needed it most.
What's Next: The Warriors return home Thursday at 5:00 to face Salem, looking to keep their perfect EBC record intact.
