Beloit, OH -- The West Branch girls tennis team started the season with a 10:00 AM match against Kidron Central Christian. The early start meant dealing with the heat, but the Warriors pulled out the 3-2 win.
Junior Annabelle McGuire had the match of the day - a two-hour battle that she won (6-4, 2-6, 10-7). McGuire gutted it out in the super tiebreaker to clinch the overall victory for West Branch.
Audrey Miner got things started right with a solid win in straight sets (6-2, 6-3).
The doubles team of Addison Bloor and Landry Simon made their varsity debut and came through with a victory (7-5, 6-4).
The Lady Warriors will be right back in action tomorrow at home vs. Mogadore Field at 4:30 PM.
