Beloit, OH -- The hunt toward a Division IV district championship began today as the West Branch Lady Warriors delivered a commanding 17-0 win over Trinity in five innings, advancing to the OHSAA District Semifinals.
West Branch set the tone early, erupting for 11 runs in the first inning. The offense capitalized on a combination of disciplined at-bats and timely hits. Addi Craven sparked the scoring with a three-run triple, while Ellie Tucker followed with a two-run double. Libbie Davis and Mati Hawk each drew bases-loaded walks, Klary McKay was hit by a pitch to bring in a run, and a Trinity error allowed two more runs to cross the plate.
The Lady Warriors added to their lead in the third inning, tacking on two more runs with help from a walk and another error.
In the circle, Tucker was sharp, throwing a five-inning no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and just one walk. The defense stayed solid behind her, keeping the Trojans hitless and scoreless.
At the plate, Zoe Metzger and Tucker each recorded two hits, while Craven led the team with three RBIs. Tucker also drove in three. The Lady Warriors showed strong discipline, drawing 13 walks as a team. Davis, Josie Milliken, and Tucker each drew two walks to help keep the offense moving.
What's Next: West Branch will now host #22-seeded Ravenna, who blanked Mentor Lake Catholic 8-0. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20, at 5:00 PM at Sis Woods Field at West Branch High School.
