A valiant rally by the Warriors came up short in the seventh inning as West Branch fell to Cardinal Mooney on Tuesday at Cene Park 9-4. The JV Green squad is now 9-10 overall on the season.
West Branch fell behind 9-0 after five innings but managed a run in the sixth inning. After scoring three runs in the seventh the Warriors loaded the bases with one out, but a hard line drive resulted in a double play that ended the game at 9-4.
West Branch had nine hits on the day including two by Bryce Parker, Colin Jones, and Austin Close. Grayden Grimm, Brady Kerns, and Connor Loper also singled.
John Biggs took the loss on the mound allowing seven runs (three earned) on three hits. Biggs had six strikeouts on the day. Jake Hardy pitched three innings allowing two runs on four hits with three strikeouts.
The JV Green team will be back in action on Thursday at home against Ursuline.
