Beloit, OH -- Last night was a special evening for the West Branch varsity boys basketball team as they honored their three seniors:
Joey Jackson,
Camden Lane, and
Cooper Anderson. The Warriors were determined to cap off what was likely their final home game inside the West Branch Fieldhouse with a win over Girard, sending the seniors out on a high note.
Girard came out strong, hitting shots early and putting pressure on the Warriors. However, West Branch responded with a solid first quarter, fueled by big plays from Jeremiah Thomas and Camden Lane, and led 16-13 after the first. In the second quarter, Cooper Anderson found his offensive rhythm, scoring 6 points and knocking down a three. The Warrior defense was also locked in, limiting Girard to just 9 points in the quarter. Despite the defensive effort, the Indians were still within reach, trailing 28-22 at the half.
The Warriors came out in the second half with balanced scoring and a defensive clinic. They held Girard to just 12 points over the final two quarters while continuing to put up points themselves. West Branch sealed a 54-34 victory, a perfect way to honor their seniors on a memorable night.
