Beloit, OH -- The West Branch boys soccer team has been on a mission all season, and last night, that special run continued. The Warriors edged out a tough Field squad that threw everything their way, pulling out a 3-2 victory to keep their postseason hopes alive.
Junior Reed Martucci powered the attack with two goals, while Leonel Gonzalez added a header to round out the scoring. All three goals came in the first half as West Branch set the tone early. Field battled back with pressure late, but the Warrior defense stood tall as goalkeeper Lance Myers came up clutch with 11 saves. Senior Kasen Weaver also chipped in with an assist in the winning effort.
What's Next: With the win, West Branch advances to the OHSAA Northeast 1 District Championship on Saturday, where they will face No. 15 seed Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, who upset Oberlin Firelands in their semifinal.
