Warriors Suffer Another Heartbreaking Loss

The West Branch Varsity boys basketball team faced a critical opportunity to earn both a solid team win and an EBC conference victory as they welcomed Carrollton to Beloit. After a rough stretch of four consecutive losses, the Warriors were eager to turn things around on their home court.

The game featured several momentum shifts, with Carrollton jumping out to an early 19-13 lead, largely due to three three-pointers in the opening quarter. Despite a slow start, West Branch responded in the second period, steadily chipping away at the deficit. The Warriors found a spark in the final moments of the half, cutting the lead to single digits—down 33-24—thanks to a key "and-one" bucket from Joey Jackson.

Coming out of halftime, Coach Loudon's team made some great defensive adjustments, ramping up their intensity. West Branch outscored Carrollton 13-8 in the third quarter, narrowing the gap to just four points, 41-37, and looked to be gaining momentum as they headed into the final frame.

With 4:33 left in the fourth quarter, Kasen Weaver drained a clutch three-pointer to tie the game at 43-43. Moments later, after a missed three by Weaver, Cooper Anderson fought for the offensive rebound and put it back in to give West Branch their first lead since the opening minutes of the game.

However, Carrollton quickly regained control, responding with timely plays and finishing strong to secure a 48-45 win.
