Warriors Hold On for Road Win, Hand Crestwood First Loss of the Season

Last night's game was a big one for the Warriors as they traveled to Mantua to battle the undefeated, 14-0 Crestwood team. A win like this could be a turning point, and the Warriors were able to hang on, securing a big 56-53 road victory.

Crestwood is a team that likes to run and gun, with players capable of hitting shots from 5-10 feet beyond the arc. That's exactly what they did, knocking down three first-quarter threes while staying efficient from the field. As a result, the Red Devils led 19-13 after one.

Senior Cooper Anderson paced the offense with six points in the second quarter, helping the Warriors stay within striking distance while the defense stepped up, holding Crestwood to just 11 points in the period. At halftime, West Branch trailed 30-27.

Out of the break, Crestwood came out strong, building a 37-29 lead. It looked like the game might slip away, but credit to West Branch—they stayed gritty and kept grinding. Joey Jackson stepped up offensively, and the Warriors were able to tie the game at 39 heading into the fourth quarter.

In the final period, Camden Lane delivered West Branch's biggest shot—and only three-pointer of the game—giving them a 46-45 lead with 4:17 remaining. The defense continued to stand strong, and with just under a minute to go, the Warriors led 53-47. Crestwood hit a quick three to pull within three, 53-50. However, with Crestwood's best three-point shooter fouling out, the Warriors gained the advantage and held on for the win. After splitting free throws, West Branch secured a 56-53 victory.
