After a momentum-building win at Beaver Local in their previous game, the West Branch boys basketball team was eager to build on that success. They did just that, avenging an earlier-season loss to Minerva with a 47-36 road victory, relying heavily on their defense throughout the game.
From the opening tip, the Warriors came ready to play, holding Minerva to just four points in the first quarter and only 13 by halftime. Cooper Anderson was steady as always, contributing 5 points in the first quarter, while Canden Lane was aggressive in getting to the foul line, knocking down three free throws.
Minerva, a team known for its ability to heat up quickly, showed signs of life after the break. Although West Branch's defense remained solid, the Lions managed to cut the deficit to just six by the end of the third quarter, thanks in part to the Warriors struggle on offense, scoring only seven points in the period.
Despite the third-quarter lull, West Branch's offense came alive in the fourth, pouring in 18 points to seal the 47-36 win and put the game out of reach.
