The Warrior football team picked up an EBC victory and improved to 6-0 with a 64-0 win over Minerva on a rainy homecoming night at Clinton Heacock Stadium. With remnants on Hurricane Helene spitting rain on and off all night, the Warriors needed just 21 first half plays to amass 377 yards of offense and a 57-0 half time lead.Â
Opening up the scoring for West Branch was
Anthony Perry who scored on a 23 yard pass reception from
Jeremiah Thomas.Â
Boston Mulinix would stretch the lead to 14-0 with a 16 yard rushing touchdown followed by another Thomas to Perry touchdown, this time from three yards out.Â
Cooper Anderson followed with a 56 yard touchdown reception to build the Warrior lead to 28-0 with 2:30 to play in the first quarter.Â
Joey Jackson scored on an 11 yard reception followed by Warrior safety forced by
Gavin Gregory to make the score 37-0 after one quarter.
In the second quarter, Thomas scored on a 20 yard run and connected with Jackson on a 72 yard screen pass for another touchdown. Mulinix rounded out the first half scoring with a 27 yard run.
In the second half, the Warriors only had one possession but it resulted in a
Grady Hirst 25 yard rushing touchdown with 10:39 to go in the game.
Thomas finished the game a perfect 8-8 passing for 197 yard and five touchdowns. Hirst was 3-7 for 46 yards in the second half.
Jackson led all receivers with three catches and 94 yards to go along with his two scores. Perry scored on both his touches as he had two receptions for 26 yards and two TD's. Anderson finished with one catch for 56 yards, Gregory had one catch for 20 yards, while
Jake Weingart caught two passes for 37 yards. Also, catching balls were
Drew Gaspar for nine yards and
Kayden Porter for one yard.
Mulinix finished the night with 141 yards rushing on ten carries and two touchdowns while Hirst had 30 yards on two carries.Â
Damon Edwards carried the ball two times for four yards.
Gavin Clemens finished the night 5-6 on PAT's
Defensively, many Warriors were involved in helping pitch the shutout allowing only 72 total yards. Gregory picked up the safety for West Branch, while
Anthony Perry had a strip sack.Â
Cam Summers and
Joey Jackson each recovered fumbles for the winners.
Before the game
Eliza Hirst was crowned the 2024 homecoming queen. Eliza is a member of both the girls soccer and football teams and currently holds the records for most career PAT's.
Next up for West Branch will be a trip to Marlington next Friday, October 4th. The Warriors will look to stay perfect on the season and in the EBC.
