Friday night, the Warriors look to stay unbeaten in just their second game of the season when they travel to Woody Hayes Quaker Stadium to face a New Philadelphia team looking for its first win of the year.
New Philadelphia is coming off of a 20-10 loss last week at Louisville, while the Warriors dominated in their game against St. Clairsville 37-6.
Last Season's Meeting
QUICKÂ HITTERS
Last week's offensive line play was the story, allowing the Warriors to rush for 246 yards in a physically dominant win over the Red Devils... That's especially impressive given how many new faces are stepping in up front from last year's line... All of West Branch's touchdowns came on the ground, led by senior quarterback
Grady Hirst, who rushed for 128 yards on 14 carries and two scores, while
Damon Edwards added two touchdowns of his own and
Gavin Marshall chipped in another, with JJ Mara and
Drake Stryffeler also contributing in the run game... While the passing attack hasn't put up big numbers yet, West Branch still has elite weapons at receiver, and if the offensive line keeps protecting Hirst, the Warriors will only get tougher to defend.
West Branch's defense was equally impressive last week, holding the Red Devils to just 170 total yards... St. Clairsville didn't find the end zone until 1:44 remained in the fourth quarter, with 32 of those yards coming on that lone scoring drive... The Warriors also forced a turnover, as
Landon Coffee recovered a fumble, and tackling was sharp across the board... West Branch will need that same level of execution Friday against a New Philadelphia team that's more talented than its 0-1 record suggests, and one that will be eager to get in front of its home crowd for the season opener at Woody Hayes Quaker Stadium.
