After suffering its first loss of the season on Wednesday, the Lady Warriors basketball team was looking to come out strong against EBC rival on Saturday morning to get the sour taste of a loss out of their mouth. The Warriors did just that, jumping out to a 12-4 first quarter lead and never looking back in a 52-35 victory over the Dukes. The Warriors improve to 7-1 on the season and are 5-0 in the EBC. The Warriors currently hold a one game lead in the league standings.
It was a team effort on Saturday as 11 different Warriors scored. After struggling in the field on Wednesday, the team made 21 field goals including eight 3's. Combined with strong defense ,the Warriors were able to pull away in the first half leading them to victory.
Tallie Muniz once again led the team with 13 points.
Mati Hawk had a season high nine points knocking down three of the teams eight 3's.
Ellie Tucker scored six points while
Presley Egli,
Carter Shepherd, and
Audrey Eaton each contributed five points.
The Warriors will be back in action on Monday with a trip to Uniontown to take on the Lake Blue Streaks. Tip off is scheduled for 6:45 PM following the JV game at 5:30.
