Alliance, OH - The West Branch boys' basketball team entered this season with high expectations, but after an 0-2 start, they needed a confidence-boosting win. That opportunity came last night, as the Warriors picked up a crucial 60-49 EBC road victory over the Marlington Dukes in what is often considered the toughest gym to play in within the league, thanks to its small court and tight rims.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams exchanging leads in a closely contested defensive game. At halftime, West Branch held a 25-19 advantage. The Warriors came out strong in the second half, exploding for 22 points in the third quarter, led by Jeremiah Thomas. The left-handed guard was instrumental, scoring 12 points and hitting all seven of his free throw attempts.
Despite trailing by 13 points at the end of the third, Marlington remained within striking distance. However, Coach Louden's team maintained their focus in the final period, playing strong defense and providing a balanced scoring attack. The Warriors held on for the 60-49 win, securing a big road victory in a challenging environment.
