In a game of runs, the Warriors used a big first quarter to help lead them to a 48-35 victory at Minerva on Tuesday night. The Warriors improve to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in the EBC while Minerva is 1-1 and 0-1 in the EBC.
West Branch took command early building a 16-8 first quarter lead. The two teams played even in the second period with the Warriors leading 23-14 at the break. In the third quarter, Minerva was able to cut the lead to two, 25-23, halfway through the frame, but West Branch went on a run of its own to close out the quarter along with a fast start in the fourth, taking a 44-27 lead with just four minutes to go. Minerva had one last push in them as they cut the lead to eight with one minute to go, but would get no closer before the final buzzer.
Leading the Warriors tonight was
Sammi Beatty. Beatty had 18 points including four three pointers.
Audrey Eaton added nine points for the winners, while
Alli Kanagy knocked down seven.
Mati Hawk finished with five points including a three.
Next up for West Branch will be a home matchup with Struthers on Monday, December 2nd. Tip off is scheduled for 6:45.
