Football Moves to 9-0 with 33-6 Victory at Carrollton

The West Branch football team picked up at least a share of its 5th straight EBC title as the Warriors defeated Carrollton 33-6 on the road Friday night.  With the win, West Branch is now 9-0 on the season and has clinched a home playoff game on November 1st.  The Warriors will look to win the conference outright next week against rival Salem.

West Branch started out fast scoring 20 points in the first quarter to take a commanding lead.  The Warriors took the opening kickoff and marched down the field.  On the first play from scrimmage, Boston Mulinix broke a 38 yard run and the drive was capped off by a two yard rush by quarterback Jeremiah Thomas.  West Branch's Garin Harlan would force a Carrollton fumble on its first possession that was recovered by Cohen Campbell.  West Branch used the sudden change situation to build a two score lead as Thomas found Joey Jackson for a 41 yard touchdown pass giving West Branch a 14-0 lead.

After forcing a Carrollton punt, Thomas once again found pay dirt, this time from six yards out increasing West Branch's lead to 20-0.

After a scoreless 2nd quarter, Carrollton would get on the board after a six minute drive to open the second half.  West Branch would then answer with its own four minute drive to again push the lead to 20 points as Thomas scored from one yard out.

In the fourth quarter, the Warriors put the game away as Thomas found Grady Hirst for a 23 yard touchdown pass with 8:26 to go.

Thomas finished the day 21-27 through the air for 287 yards and two scores.  He also rushed for 91 yards on 13 carries and three touchdowns.  Mulinix led all ball carries with 163 yards rushing on 17 carries. Jackson finished with nine catches for 154 yards and a score.

Defensively, the Warriors forced four Carrollton turnovers.  In addition to Campbell's fumble recovery, Dom Slimon also recovered a fumble.  Carson Graham and Jackson each had interceptions for the winners.

Campbell and Slimon each recorded sacks while Jack Flickinger led the team with six tackles.
