West Branch football continued its run in EBC play with a 49-0 victory over Alliance Friday night at Kehres Stadium on the campus of the University of Mount Union. The Warriors wasted little time putting the Aviators away, scoring on its first five possessions, building a 35-0 lead midway through the second quarter to move to 8-0 on the season and 3-0 in the EBC. With the win the Warriors have clinched a playoff berth according to the website joeeitel.com.
The Warriors took the opening possession and marched down the field, culminating in a 25 yard scoring strike from
Jeremiah Thomas to
Anthony Perry. After the Warriors forced a turnover on downs inside Aviator territory, Thomas and Perry would once again hook up, this time on a 28 yard pass to the back of the endzone extending the Warrior lead to 14-0.
Thomas would extend the lead to 21-0 by using his legs. Rolling right on third and long, he took off running and after juking out a number of Aviator defenders, ran back across the field and into the endzone for a 22 yard rushing touchdown.
Boston Mulinix would put the game away scoring touchdowns on runs of 14 and one yard on the Warriors next two possessions.
Joey Jackson scored on a 10 yard strike from Thomas with just :03 seconds to play in the half giving West Branch a 42-0 lead at the break.
On West Branch's first possession of the second half, the Warriors once again utilized the running of Mulinix who carried the ball down the field, eventually punching it in from five yards out extending the lead to 49-0.
Mulinix finished the day with 120 yards rushing on 15 carries and three touchdowns. Thomas gained 67 on the ground with a score. Through the air, Thomas was 15-20 for 180 yards and three touchdown passes.
Cooper Anderson led all Warrior receivers with five catches. Jackson had four catches, while Perry finished with three catches for 55 yards. Tight End
Gavin Gregory caught three balls for 69 yards for the Warriors.

Eliza Hirst was 7 for 7 on extra points.
West Branch's defense suffocated the Aviator rushing attack all night long, allowing only 50 yards on 22 attempts. In the pass game, Alliance was never able to consistently move the ball, completing just 9 of 24 passes for 135 yards.
The Warriors forced one turnover with Jack Flickenger recovering an Aviator fumble. Perry and Jackson both had strong games at corner, as Perry broke up three passes and Jackson finished with two pass breakups.
Zach Coffee,
Gavin Gregory, and Cohen Cambpell harassed the Alliance quarterback all night with each finishing with a sack.
Next up for West Branch will be a trip to Carrollton to take on the Carroll County Warriors. Carrollton enters the game with a 6-2 record and a perfect 3-0 record in the EBC.
