Beloit, OH -- Dane Martucci needed two goals to own the record. He had both before the game was over. Martucci scored his 23rd and 24th goals of the season Thursday night, breaking the West Branch single-season record, and the Warriors held off a late Mooney push for a 3-2 win.
Martucci opened the scoring with 12 minutes left in the first half. Mason Thomas added a penalty kick before the break to make it 2-0, and Martucci got the record breaker with 33:10 to play in the second half to push the lead to three.
Mooney did not go away. The Cardinals scored twice late to cut the lead to one, but West Branch kept them off the board the rest of the way and walked off with the win.
