West Branch girls soccer continued its strong early season defensive play pitching the 2-0 shutout against the Hubbard Eagles on Saturday afternoon at West Branch High School. The game was called with just over 15:00 left in the contest due to thunderstorms in the area. The game was originally paused for the OHSAA required 30 minutes, but after the delay continued to be extended due to numerous roars of thunder, the two coaches decided to make the game official instead of waiting it out.
The Warriors scored one goal in each half.
Hensley Biery got the team on the board first while
Elli Colian picked up a goal in the second half to extend the West Branch lead.
Cambrie Nezbeth had an assist and goal keeper
Audrey Eaton and the defense combined for the second shutout of the season.
Next up: The Warriors will travel to Howland on Wednesday to take on the Tigers. JV's will play at 5:30 followed by the varsity.
