Alliance, OH -- The West Branch boys golf team opened the 2026 season with a split tri-match at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course on Thursday, defeating Alliance while falling to East Canton.

The Warriors posted a team score of 184 to finish second behind East Canton (172) and ahead of Alliance (187), moving to 1-1 on the season.

Making his high school debut, freshman Karson Fuson led West Branch with a team-low round of (44). Dylan Huntsman followed with a (46), while Bennett Biggs and Colton Ghezzi each carded a (47) to round out the team scoring. Ashton Clay also shot a (48) in the season opener.

The West Branch junior varsity squad finished with a team score of 223, tying Alliance and finishing behind East Canton (210). Dylan Fuson led the Warriors with a 49, followed by Carter Hilliard (55), Jason Irey (58) and Aidan Martig (61).
