Indonika Woods will compete in the OHSAA State Track & Field Meet on Friday, June 5th at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State Univeristy. The D3 Shot Put event is scheduled to start at 4:30 PM.
Woods qualified for the state meet by finishing third at the D3 Austintown Regional Meet last week. Woods finished with a throw of 35-04.25 which was a personal best on the season. Sitting in sixth place going into her last throw, Woods topped her season best on her final attempt to earn the trip to state.
Woods will compete in the first flight. There are a total of 18 competitors in the event. The favorite is Emily Mechenbier from Perry who threw 47-08.50 in regionals last week.
Tickets for the state meet can be purchased online through the OHSAA website at ohsaa.org/tickets. When purchasing tickets you will be rerouted to Ticketmaster as that is Ohio States ticketing partner. There will be no cash tickets available at the gate since the event is being run by Ohio State. Tickets are $10 for students and $16 for adults with a 4 Day pass costing $50.
