Beloit, OH -- Last night, the stage was set for a matchup between two of the area's top teams in the WKBN High School Girls Basketball Game of the Week. The contest lived up to the hype, featuring momentum swings, timely baskets, and intense moments throughout.

Regulation was not enough to decide a winner, as the game pushed into overtime. With just 0.6 seconds remaining, a late foul sent a Canfield player to the free-throw line, where she converted both attempts to lift the Lady Cardinals to a 42–40 victory over West Branch.

First Half
Both teams spent the opening quarter feeling each other out, trading baskets in a tight defensive battle. West Branch held a slim 7–6 advantage at the end of the first. In the second quarter, Canfield ramped up the pressure, forcing turnovers and converting them into points. The Cardinals scored 14 points in the frame and carried a 20–13 lead into the halftime break, heading to the locker room with momentum.

Second Half
Coming out of halftime, the Lady Warriors made key adjustments on both ends of the floor. The changes paid off immediately, as multiple players contributed offensively while the defense limited Canfield's scoring opportunities. Coach DeShields' squad won the third quarter 11–5 and trailed by just one point heading into the final period.

The fourth quarter featured back-and-forth, high-intensity play, with a raucous crowd keeping the atmosphere electric. With under 10 seconds remaining, West Branch guard Audrey Eaton had a chance to win the game, but her shot came up short, sending the contest to overtime.

Emotions ran high in the extra period as both teams battled relentlessly. West Branch missed two crucial free throws late in overtime, opening the door for Canfield. With 7.7 seconds remaining, Canfield's Lorieona Jannoe drove to the basket, was fouled with 0.6 seconds left, and calmly knocked down both free throws to secure a 42–40 overtime victory for the Lady Cardinals.
