Beloit, OH -- Yesterday evening, the #4-seeded West Branch Girls Basketball team opened OHSAA tournament play by hosting #34-seeded Akron East. The Lady Warriors came out firing, racing to a commanding 20–0 lead and never looking back in a dominant 63–9 victory over the Dragons
West Branch had two players in double figures, led by Madi Hoopes with 17 points and Audrey Eaton adding 11. Sammi Beatty and Tallie Muniz each contributed nine points, while Alli Kanagy finished with seven.
It was a great team win and a strong start to tournament play, allowing valuable minutes for the entire roster as many players made key contributions throughout the night.
What's Next: Coach DeShields and the Warriors will now turn their attention to #21-seeded Salem, who defeated Field 55–30 last night. The conference rivals will meet for the third time this season, with the Lady Warriors looking to complete the season sweep and punch their ticket to the district final.
Tip-off is set for Tuesday, February 24 at 7:00 p.m., and the game will once again be played in Beloit.
